Last Thursday, November 24, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, approved the development orientation of Darin and Tarut Island and future initiatives for the island, as well as the establishment of the Darin and Tarut Island Development Corporation, and the allocation of an estimated budget. With a value of 2.644 billion riyals to improve the quality of life and develop the local product therein.
Al-Ruzaiza stressed that it's the great impact of this developmental trend will reflect positively on all the governorates and cities of the eastern region, whether in terms of improving the quality of life or strengthening the elements of the tourism economy and the subsequent urban development projects in various fields and thus more job opportunities for the people of the region.
Al-Ruzaiza pointed out that the development orientation of Darin and Tarut will enhance the status of the tourist area in line with its status, legacy and historical origins, pointing out that the island is on the verge of a major urban development that keeps pace with the renaissance witnessed by all regions of the Kingdom within the framework of implementing the goals of Vision 2030 AD, extending his thanks and appreciation. His Highness, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for approving the developmental orientation, including future initiatives, and establishing an institution entrusted with determining the island's development needs, which represents an exploitation of the comparative advantages and an investment of the natural and heritage components enjoyed by Tarut and Darien Island.
The Chairman of the Qatif Business Council, Abdul Raouf Abdullah Al-Matrod, said that the adoption of the developmental orientation for Tarut and Darien Island and the allocation of an estimated budget of more than two and a half billion achieves a set of goals. On the one hand, it preserves the cultural and historical heritage of the island, which dates back more than 5,000 years and includes More than 11 archaeological sites, and on the other hand, it improves the quality of life and well-being of the people of the island, the Qatif Governorate, and even the entire eastern region through the development of economic and tourism activities and benefiting from the comparative advantages and investing in them. It is expected that the coming periods, with the adoption of the developmental orientation of the island, will witness an active investment movement in the tourism sector and all fields related to it.
